Gazetted in 2003 as the first park under the National Parks Act 1980, Penang National Park covers 2,563 hectares of coastal rainforest at the island's northwest tip, with trails leading to Turtle Beach and Monkey Beach.

Getting there

Take a Rapid Penang bus or taxi to the Teluk Bahang entrance, about 45 minutes from George Town.

Safety tips

Trails are well marked and generally low risk, but carry enough water since the coastal route has little shade, and check tide times if you plan to return along the beach.

Trails get slippery and river crossings rise during the September to November rains; the park stays open year round.
